FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CAN I RETURN OR EXCHANGE MY ORDER?
Because all orders are custom made, they are not returnable and cannot be exchanged. However, please know that if there was a mistake that 'we' made then we will absolutely correct it and we will usually do so very quickly. Note: we can't emphasize enough to measure twice, and with a steel tape measure, and to communicate with us if you have any questions or need help with where to measure (by sending us a picture of your windows, including both the floor AND ceiling and taking the picture straight on). We can suggest inside mount or outside mount. We might even throw in a complimentary digital rendering so you can see how the shade may look in your home.
CAN I CANCEL MY ORDER?
If you wish to cancel your order, you may be charged for any labor that has taken place and any materials that may have been ordered, including our time to order said materials.
WILL YOU PROTECT MY PRIVACY?
Any personal information that is provided to us (name, phone number, address, email, etc.) will never be sold or given to a third party or business. You can be rest assured that we value your privacy as much as our own.
YOUR PHOTOS:
After creating your beautiful window treatments, we like to show them off on our social media accounts by posting pictures of them shown hung in the workroom or what you may have sent us, after hanging in your own home and even 'before' pictures. By placing an order with us you are giving us permission to possibly post these pictures to our social media. Please know that we respect your privacy and will never reveal your name, address or personal details. If you wish to not have your pictures posted, please tell us in writing so that we can be sure to respect your wishes.
HOW WILL YOU BE SHIPPING MY ORDER?
Shipping is typically via FedEx ground. Some smaller orders are shipped with USPS. When we send you a quote, we will note as to the shipping cost and which company we will use. FedEx and UPS are our preferred shipping carriers.
Shipping is usually done within 6-8 weeks of when your order is placed. Sometimes it may be sooner and sometimes it may be later. When you receive a quote from us, the lead-time will be noted in the quote so you will have a good idea as to when it will be shipped.
HOW TO SHIP YOUR FABRIC:
All fabrics should be rolled on a tube. If a fabric is flat-folded, we cannot guarantee that all creases will come out when ironing and steaming your fabric. We will try our best but often times, when the fabric has been folded, creases are difficult to remove 100%.
WHERE TO SHIP MATERIAL:
Ship fabrics, materials, templates, etc. to the address that was on your quote, which is in Waterford, Michigan
FABRIC INSPECTION & FLAWS:
In an attempt to create the highest quality product, every effort will be made to inspect for and cut around any flaws, if possible. Sometimes these flaws are not visible until the window treatment is already fabricated. It your responsibility to provide us with flawless, or nearly flawless fabric. If we see any flaws in your fabric, we will make every attempt to work around that flaw.
If your fabric choice is using curtain panels, bedding, etc., there will be an upcharge for such usage due to taking apart such items, ironing them and so forth. We are also not responsible for the pattern placement on your order, if there is a pattern on your fabric, due to many panels never being identical. We make every attempt to have all items, such as shades, to have the pattern laying the same on each one but often times it is impossible when fabricating from panels or beddings.
WHICH DRAPERY LINING WILL BE USED FOR MY ORDER?
We have several linings to choose from:
-
Basic Lining: this is a white, light-filtering, lightweight lining and often used when sheer fabrics need lining or when an overall flowy look is desired. This is dependent of fabric choice.
-
Premium Napped Lining: this lining is our most popular and is a soft white, flannel-backed, medium weight cotton lining. This fabric is a great lining for most window treatments and shades and is our preferred choice.
-
Blackout Lining: this lining is white in color and blocks out the sunlight about 95% (depends on what style window shade it is used for).
When we provide you with a quote, the lining choice will be noted. If you request a specific lining, such as blackout lining (room darkening) then we will include that in the quote.
FABRIC STABILITY:
No fabric is completely stable. All fabrics shrink and stretch due to yarn content, weather, humidity and construction. Loose, open weaves and stretchy fabrics are particularly susceptible to changes in length. We shall not be responsible to changes in length due to these reasons as described above. We do our best to take into consideration that certain fabrics react differently than others, when fabricating custom window treatments. Sometimes we may offer a stabilizer to loosely woven fabric, for additional costs.
FABRIC DURABILITY:
All fabrics wear differently depending on the amount and type of usage, exposure to sunlight, moisture, humidity or dirt, and cleaning and pressing methods used. We shall not be held responsible for how a fabric wears, now or in the future.
THE HAZARDS OF CUSTOM SHADE CORD PULLS & THE LENGTH OF CORD PULLS:
In order to stay compliant with the current child-safety laws, cord pulls will have a finished length of no longer than 40% of the shade length (example: if your arch shade is 50 long, measuring the bottom of window to the bottom of the arch, then the cord pull will have a length of 20”).
If you request to have a cord length that is longer than 40% of your shade height, you understand that this length is not compliant with the current child safety laws, and you will not hold our shop responsible for any consequences that may occur with requesting a longer cord pull. You are fully aware of the hazards that come with longer cord pulls than 40% shade height (strangulation to small children).
WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO PLACING AN ORDER FOR ARCHED SHADES?
Here's how it basically works, in a nutshell:
-
Follow the four easy steps for an instant online quote and an email will be sent to you about 5 minutes later.
-
If you are happy with that quote and would like to proceed, we ask for a picture of your arch window (including both the floor and ceiling) so that we can assess it and give our input on if it should be an inside mount OR outside mount.
-
Once we have a bit more information from you, we will email you an updated pdf quote that will spell out the details of your order. This will include things such as the fabric yardage, current lead-time, and arch template instructions. This process usually takes a bit of back/forth with emailing until the latest quote is perfected and a final quote is emailed to you.
